The use of growth factors is an innovative therapy that opens up new healing prospects for thousands of people suffering from orthopedic, physiatric, and rheumatologic problems.
It is a treatment with autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) infiltration: natural, without contraindications and with amazing results.
WHAT IS IT FOR?
Infiltration with platelet growth factors activates and accelerates the repair processes of connective tissue and the musculoskeletal system.
HOW DOES THE TREATMENT TAKE PLACE?
- The patient undergoes a venous blood sampling
- The blood, using special equipment, is separated into its constituents
- Plasma and platelets containing growth factors are isolated and concentrated
- The preparation is infiltrated locally into the area to be treated
WHAT DISEASES CAN BE TREATED WITH GROWTH FACTORS?
Diseases that can be treated with growth factors are:
- Arthrosis and other cartilage lesions (osteochondritis, etc.)
- Pseudarthrosis, delayed bone healing
- Tendinitis (acute and chronic)
- Tendinopathy (acute and chronic)
- Meniscal disorders
- Muscle injuries and trauma (tears, strains, etc.)
- Arthroplasty procedures
GROWTH FACTORS: WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS METHOD?
Platelet-rich plasma therapy has several advantages:
- It is a biological therapy, therefore, devoid of the potential side effects of drugs;
- The only therapy that can interact with the underlying mechanisms of the disease to be treated, facilitating its complete healing
- It is complementary to physiotherapy and other drug therapies
PATIENT INFORMATION:
Specific laboratory tests are performed before starting growth factor treatment. Generally, 3 applications are made, 1 every 2 weeks (duration of therapy 4 weeks).
A fast of at least 3 to 4 hours should be observed on the day of growth factor treatment. It is advisable not to take any type of anti-inflammatory in the days before treatment.
At Villa Stuart Nursing Home, growth factor treatment takes place in close collaboration with the Transfusion Center.
