Regenerative medicine utilizes injections of autologous plasma rich in platelet growth factors (PRP) to activate and accelerate the repair processes of connective tissue and the musculoskeletal system (tendons, muscles, cartilage) and to reduce inflammation and pain. It involves radiological guidance to ensure that the injection is precise and reaches the area to be treated.
PRP, Platelet-Rich Plasma, is a concentrate of platelets obtained by centrifuging the patient’s blood to separate platelets and plasma from other blood components.
PRP is rich in platelets, which are a natural reservoir of platelet growth factors (PDGF, TGF-β, …) that regulate the growth and repair of various tissues. Platelets also contain other molecules important for tissue regeneration and inflammatory response such as ADP, ATP, calcium, histamine, and dopamine.

PRP is a natural treatment, as it uses the patient’s own blood.
It involves the patient undergoing a venous blood draw, which is then separated to isolate the plasma and platelets to produce a concentrate to be locally injected into the area to be treated.
